Attraction - Animal, Natural, Relaxation and Well being Lake Cowal is the largest natural lake in New South Wales. It is a
dedicated bird and wildlife sanctuary where a diverese species of waterbirds make their home. The Lake is listed on the Register of the National Estate for the diversity and the number of species that inhibit the lake. It can can be accessed from a
public reserve off Clear Ridge Road West Wyalong.
The birdlife on the lake is amazing, over 180 different species have been
identified ranging from seagulls and pelicans to ibis. Many of the species
are either rare or endangered. The lake is popular for fishing with yellow
belly being the predominant fish, photography, bird and nature watching are
also popular.
The lake is maintained in a completely natural state, which means there are
no visitor facilities provided.
